Namaste! Thank you for visiting Masuyo Reiki. I've always been a very compassionate person and have been very connected to animals my whole life. I don't know if I found Reiki, or if Reiki found me. I think it was a little of both.

In May of 2014, I lost a very special dog. I had spent 7 years rehabbing her after she spent the first half of her life in a kennel, never experiencing any kind human contact, love or even basic medical care. She came to me terrified and I soon discovered she was also epileptic. It took years, but she blossomed and I was blessed to bond with her and gain her love and trust. When I lost her after a 2 year fight with congestive heart failure, I was devastated. I went to a local spa where I had my first Reiki treatment. I had no expectations and really didn't have any idea what was about to happen,  but it was a total life changing experience for me.  I was able to move through a place of despair and grief and found a purpose had come out of my loss. Good had come out of the pain I had felt, I was introduced to Reiki.

The effect it really had was that it taught me to a way to not only heal myself, but a new way to help the animals I loved and rescued, as well as those I worked with while grooming or training.  That soon blossomed into having the ability to offer healing to others and their beloved animals.

From that one treatment, I have continued on with studying Reiki and practicing a Reiki-based lifestyle. I do not just "do it as a job". In fact, my Reiki practice is my way of doing something good in the world, to combat all the negative things I see and hear about on almost a daily basis.  I've experienced some really sad and truly heartbreaking things in my years in dog rescue especially. This world can be a very difficult place to live. I hope that by sharing Reiki with other people and animals who may benefit from healing energy, I will be putting more good into the world.

One of my favorite quotes is by the Dalai Lama. He said, "Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."  I live my life based around compassion and love and that is the basis of my work.  I look forward to sharing it with you and those you care for.
